Commitment certificates

A commitment certificate records the habit you promised to run and for how long, so the promise is visible rather than remembered.

What it is

A commitment certificate is a record of the commitment you made — which habit, for how long. It exists because an intention that lives only in your head is revised silently, whereas a written commitment has to be acknowledged and changed on purpose.

How to do it

1. Write the commitment once.
One habit, one minute a day, one time frame.
2. Keep it where you see it.
The certificate is a reminder, not a trophy.
3. If you change it, change it deliberately.
Revising a visible promise is a decision; abandoning a private one is drift.

The mistake that breaks it

The failure mode is treating the certificate as an achievement. A certificate is a statement of intent that has been made public to yourself — it is the start line, and collecting one without running the habit turns it into decoration.

What to do instead

Use the certificate to fix the exact commitment, then judge yourself on the daily minute.

Questions

What is on a commitment certificate?

The habit you committed to and the period you committed to — the promise, stated plainly.

Does it help if nobody else sees it?

Yes. Writing a commitment down stops it from being quietly renegotiated.

Is it available on the free tier?

Commitment certificates are part of the app.

One thing you would change?

If this guide helped, or it lost you, tell me one thing I should fix or add. Four taps, no login, about thirty seconds — and it ends with a printable one-page week sheet either way.
